How Google AdSense Works
Advertising is an evolving empire, from TV, radio, billboards, magazine, the internet, etc.
The difference between other types of advertising and internet advertising is that it's easier for you to get involved via the internet because anyone can have their own webpage unlike anyone having their own TV station. So you can be a kind of middle man within the internet advertising system - and AdSense makes this possible for you.
When you have an Adsense advert on your page, you are advertising a companys webpage or product. When your AdSense advert is clicked, the company pays Google a certain amount of money, you then get a percentage of that money in return for your advertising space and potentially getting the company a sale or new customer.
